19th Century Pair of English Carved Wood Mirrors
These are finely carved in pine in the manner of 17th century master carver, Grinling Gibbons. One has roses at the center of each side with a ribbon holding it and a profusion of laurel leaves climbing the frame, interspersed with gilded laurel berries. The other has a ribbon at top & bottom with half the mirror carved with oak leaves with gilded acorns and the other half with laurel leaves and gilded laurel berries. Both frames have the inner edge gilded, the tone of the leaves is a deep green-black. There is an old inventory number on the top edge of each such as large households once used. They are in very good condition.
